Local Students Earn Williams College Degrees

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass., June 7, 2015—Williams College President Adam F. Falk today conferred Bachelor of Arts degrees on nine local graduates at the college’s 226th Commencement.

Bennington, Vt.

Alyssa K. Amos        Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amos

Majored in art and English. Participated in lacrosse, the Williams Outing Club, the Williams Record, and was a Junior Advisor.

 

Dalton, Mass.

Elaina C. Pullano     Cum Laude     Daughter of Mark and Michelle Pullano

Majored in biology and with highest honors in music. Won the Shirley Stanton Prize, for the student who best fulfilled his or her potential in music while at Williams. Was a member of Rotaract, a club that raises funds for local and international service causes. Sang in the Concert and Chamber Choirs and performed solo in multiple vocal concerts and ensembles.

 

North Adams, Mass.

Anuj Kamlesh Shah Cum Laude     Son of Kamlesh and Priti Shah

Majored in chemistry and concentrated with highest honors in neuroscience. Was elected to the scientific honor society Sigma Xi, and was awarded both the Patricia Goldman-Rakic Prize, for exceptional achievement in neuroscience research, and the Richard K. Meyers, 1944, Texaco Scholarship, for a student majoring in chemistry who demonstrates the potential to conduct research leading to a senior thesis. Served as a teaching assistant in chemistry and as a tutor in the Math and Science Resource Center. Participated in the step dance group Sankofa.

 

Lenox, Mass.

Andrew A. Bravo      Cum Laude     Son of Janis and Albert Bravo

Majored in chemistry and economics. Was a member of the Williams men’s soccer team, volunteered for Team IMPACT, coached soccer with the local Ajax team, and tutored in chemistry.

Margaret F. Mitts     Cum Laude     Daughter of Marybeth and Kevin Mitts, M.D.

Majored in art history, and was awarded the Karl E. Weston, 1896, Prize for Distinction in Art History. Studied in the Williams-Exeter Programme at the University of Oxford and was a member of the women’s golf team.

Scott G. Pelton-Stroud         Son of Suzanne Pelton and David Stroud. Majored in mathematics. Manager of the men’s varsity basketball team, co-captain of the Williams strength club, and eco-advisor for the Zilkha Center.

 

Petersburgh, N.Y.

Cecilia Rose Denhard          Daughter of Rosanne and David Denhard

Majored in art. Participated in the contemporary dance ensemble CoDa and in the Williams College Museum of Art Think Tank.

 

Williamstown, Mass.

Sarah L. Brink                      Daughter o f Melissa and John Brink

Majored in psychology. Participated in the Williams College women’s soccer team.

Alyssa L. Tomkowicz          Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve and Amy Tomkowicz

Majored in classics and English and won a Charles Bridgen Lansing, 1829, Fellowship in Latin and Greek.
