Four faculty have received the Nelson Bushnell, Class of 1920, Prize for excellence in teaching and writing.

Williams is pleased to announce this year’s recipients of the Nelson Bushnell, Class of 1920, Prize, the college’s major award for faculty excellence in teaching and writing. Awarded to 70 faculty members since its inception in 1995, the Bushnell Prize is given to faculty who are consistently recognized both by their colleagues and their students as excellent teachers and mentors.

The prize winners for this year are:

Sandra Burton, the Lipp Family Director of Dance and Senior Lecturer in Dance

Christi Kelsey, assistant professor of physical education, and head women’s volleyball coach

Christina Simko, chair and associate professor of sociology

Thomas Smith, chair and the J. Hodge Markgraf ’52 Professor of Chemistry
