Arando el aire: la ecología en la poesía y la música de Nicaragua

By Steven F. White ’77. 400 Elefantes/Alcaldía Municipal de León. 2011. Essays with an ecocritical focus on the writings of major Nicaraguan poets and singer-songwriters including Rubén Darío, Ernesto Cardenal, Carlos Mejía Godoy and many others. This Central American country, known as the Republic of Poets, also has a rich biodiversity that is threatened by destructive human activity. The author, Lewis Professor of Spanish at St. Lawrence University, examines how an ecological awareness in poetry and song in Nicaragua can become a model of more ethical behavior for people in other parts of the world.
