Two members of Williams’ Class of 2025 and an alumnus from the Class of 2018 have been named Gates Cambridge Scholars, a postgraduate program that provides a fully funded year of study at the University of Cambridge starting in the fall.

David Baron ’25, a mathematics major, plans to pursue a master’s degree in the same field at St. John’s College. Kar Yern Chin ’18, a history and computer science major, will begin an M.Phil. in world history at the University of Cambridge. And Asa Quasney Wardat ’25, a geosciences major with a concentration in coastal and ocean studies, will pursue an M.Phil. in architecture and urban studies at Magdalene College.

Gates Cambridge has awarded 2,218 scholarships to scholars from more than 112 countries since its founding in 2000. Ninety-five scholars were selected for the 2025 cohort.
